Deep Roots Fertilizer

Transforming invasive species into regenerative growth

What is Deep Roots?

Food for your soil and your plants!

We’re a handful of crazy of Utahans helping to clean up waterways and provide sustainable growing inputs!

We harvest invasive carp through spearfishing and ferment the whole fish into a soil amendment.

The low-odor, non-burning liquid soil amendment feeds soil microbes, improves nutrient cycling, and supports healthy plant growth in gardens, farms, and landscapes.

By removing invasive fish we’re taking unwanted and harmful biomass and putting the nutrients into local growing!

Why use Deep Roots soil amendment?

Rooted in restoration

We make a soil amendment from invasive fish. By harvesting invasive carp that can harm freshwater ecosystems, we help support restoration efforts while transforming a regional challenge into a regenerative resource.

Crafted the right way

We preserve what nature made. Our soil amendment is made through a natural fermentation process that preserves native amino acids while producing a gentle, low-NPK formula that nourishes plants and rebuilds soil biology. It’s just fish and brown sugar!

Better for your Plants

Every drop supports the strength of your soil. Our fertilizer feeds the soil plants rely on, improving root growth, boosting nutrient availability, and helping crops become stronger and more resilient. Deep Roots supports healthier harvests in farms and gardens.

Spring: Wake Up the Soil

Early spring is the ideal time to apply Deep Roots Amendment as soils begin to warm and microbial activity increases. Spring applications help activate native soil biology, unlock existing nutrients, and support steady early growth. Apply as a soil drench or diluted watering for seedlings, transplants, garden beds, and perennials as they break dormancy.

How to use Deep Roots soil amendment:

Summer: Growth & Resilience

During the growing season, regular applications help maintain healthy soil microbial communities that support nutrient cycling and root function. Summer use can improve plant vigor, support flowering and fruiting, and help plants better tolerate heat and drought stress. Apply to soil in the morning or evening to avoid midday heat.

Winter: Indoor Growing & Soil Prep

During winter, Deep Roots Soil Amendment can be used for indoor plants, seedlings, and starts grown under lights or in greenhouses. Diluted applications support steady nutrient cycling in potting soils and container mixes without burning roots. In outdoor beds in cold climates, winter is best used as a soil-building and planning phase, with applications resuming once soils thaw in early spring.

Fall: Rebuild & Recharge

Fall is an excellent time to apply Deep Roots Soil Amendment to rebuild soil organic inputs after harvest. Fall applications feed microbes that continue working below ground, supporting root growth, nutrient storage, and soil structure heading into winter. Especially beneficial for perennial beds, trees, shrubs, and garden areas being prepared for next season.
